An elevator used mainly to receive grain from the prairies of Western Canada at the port of Thunder Bay (known also as the "Lakehead") and condition it for export by boat through the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River (St. Lawrence Seaway).

Lakehead: A common designation for: (a) Thunder Bay, Ontario, and its administrative region, and (b) the hydrographic bassin of the Upper Lake Superior, the head of the Great Lakes. The first is meant on this record.
