Le joint à doigts [...] comprend deux plaques découpées de façon à former deux séries de doigts s'intercalant les uns dans les autres. Les plaques sont fixées à des cornières ou à un autre dispositif d'ancrage se trouvant de part et d'autre de l'ouverture et agissant en porte-à-faux au-dessus de celle-ci. Le joint permet un mouvement d'environ 40 mm, mais il n'est plus utilisé de nos jours. Le joint à dents [...] ressemble au joint à doigts mais, comme il est employé dans des structures à ouverture relativement large, la longueur des porte-à-faux est plus importante et les dents sont structuralement très fortes.
