The Native Education Centre (NEC) opened its doors in 1967 and became British Columbia's largest private Aboriginal College. Our focus is to meet the needs of Aboriginal adult students requiring developmental, vocational, and applied academic programs to access employment or further post-secondary education. The Native Education Centre is proud to be governed by the Urban Native Indian Education Society (UNIES), a registered charitable organization. The Native Education Centre offers a learning environment that is culturally rich with small classes that are taught in a traditional longhouse. Students have access to many resources and in-house support that includes Funding Counselling, Educational Assessments and Employment Officers who assist with job placement.
