Nœud permettant d'abouter des cordages de sections et de matières différentes. Il est particulièrement utile pour allonger un câblot. On l'utilise fréquemment pour abouter des amarres de remorquage même quand celles-ci sont lourdes. On l'utilise également à des fins décoratives.

CONT

Le nœud de carrick double est volumineux et passera difficilement par un filoir. L'avantage de ce nœud est qu'il ne se serrera pas au point d'être impossible à défaire même s'il est soumis à une force considérable.

OBS

Le nœud de carrick et le nœud de carrick double sont appelés, à tort, «noeud de vache» et «nœud de vache double».
