Le cyclone comprend un centre, l'œil du cyclone, généralement clair dépourvu de nuages. L'œil est entouré d'une région très active, le mur de l'œil, constitué de cumulonimbus. L'agitation à l'intérieur de l'œil est minime, les vents y sont très faibles.
