Ces minéralisations [sédimentaires] se déposent sur le plateau continental de leur époque, non loin des anciens rivages. Plus précisément leur localisation est étroitement contrôlée par la paléomorphologie (île, cuvette, rebord). Ainsi, les stratifications entrecroisées, les réductions d'épaisseurs, les sols indurés, les lacunes, les ripple-marks ou rides traduisant une faible épaisseur d'eau, les chenaux fluviatiles sont autant de manifestations que l'on rencontre dans les gisements d'origine sédimentaire dues à cette paléomorphologie.
