A Project by the International Development Research Center (IDRC). PVC: polyvinyl chloride. "In 1978, IDRC funded efforts by researchers at the University of Waterloo to develop a reliable handpump suitable for Southern conditions. The result was an inexpensive, lightweight pump made from rustproof PVC plastic".

Projet du Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI). PVC : polychlorure de vinyle. En 1978, le CRDI a financé les travaux de chercheurs de l'Université de Waterloo qui voulaient mettre au point une pompe à main fiable, adaptée aux conditions d'utilisation dans le Sud. Ils ont conçu une pompe légère et peu coûteuse en polychlorure de vinyle (PVC), plastique inoxydable qui donne une eau inodore et qui a bon goût.
