The Population Health Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR) is an interdisciplinary research collaboration that has significantly influenced Canadian health policy over the past decade. Established in 1987, the program is a leader in addressing socioeconomic and psychosocial determinants of health and new developments in the biological sciences which help explain the ways in which the social environment affects vulnerability to disease.
