Thermohydrolyse. Au cours de ce procédé, l'eau est portée à des températures comprises entre 190 et 250 °C mais reste sous forme liquide suite au maintien d'une pression élevée (supérieure à 5 MPa). Cette eau est ensuite amenée en contact avec la biomasse pendant un temps compris entre 1 et 20 min. Des températures élevées en thermohydrolyse permettent une meilleure conversion de la biomasse dans le mode de travail : saccharification et fermentation simultanées.
