[Le recuit] comporte plusieurs variantes : a) recuit d'adoucissement, dans le but de détruire les effets de la trempe dans un acier. La température du recuit est alors inférieure à celle de la zone de transformation à l'échauffement (la même que celle de la trempe). Dans ces conditions, après refroidissement lent; l'acier hypoeutectoïde sera formé de ferrite et de perlite, l'acier eutectoïde de perlite et l'acier hypereutectoïde de cémentite et perlite.
