Troc financier par lequel un investisseur, ayant besoin de fonds dans un pays étranger pour une période donnée, achète la monnaie désirée sur le marché au comptant en concluant simultanément la vente de cette monnaie à terme, de façon à fixer son taux de change.

Les capitaux d'un troc-dépôt sont ensuite versés dans une banque du pays étranger en attendant d'être utilisés, ce qui permet de bénéficier, en plus de la couverture du risque de change, des intérêts sur le dépôt.
