Valve de limitation de pression dont la fonction principale est de servir de dispositif de sécurité. Habituellement, elle est pré-réglée et peut être de deux sortes faisant communiquer avec l'atmosphère l'une pour des pressions positives et l'autre pour des pressions négatives. À des pressions élevées, elle laisse échapper les gaz pour éviter une surpression (valve d'échappement) ou, à une pression inférieure à celle de l'atmosphère pour répondre aux besoins inspiratoires du malade.
