Le vin rouge est une boisson alcoolisée obtenue par la fermentation du jus des raisins à la peau foncée. Il se distingue du vin blanc et rosé par les types de cépages utilisés et sa méthode de production. En effet, durant la vinification du vin rouge, le moût (= le jus de raisin pressé), macère et fermente avec la peau, c'est ce qui lui donne cette belle couleur rouge, son goût et son tanin. L'alcool n'apparaît qu'ensuite, lorsque la levure transforme le sucre du raisin en éthanol et en dioxyde de carbone.
