Les voies de dérivation en cul de sac [...] permettent la déviation puis l'arrêt automatique de chariots à un endroit déterminé sans entraver le déplacement d'autres chariots sur le circuit principal. Elles peuvent se prêter à l'accumulation d'un certain nombre de chariots en stockage.

Convoyeur de raccordement (transfer) (chaîne, bandes magnétiques) dans un système de convoyeur au sol. Le système complet s'appelle : tow line. Spur : peut contenir 4 chariots; une entrée mais pas de sortie.
