Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Deoxyribonuclease (DNAse) agar actually has DNA in it. Deoxyribonuclease is an exoenzyme excreted from the cell which will break the DNA down into smaller molecules. There are 2 kinds of DNAse agar that can be used. 1) The first medium has no indicator, but is does require HCl (hydrochloric acid) reagent to be added after growth has occurred on the plate. Without DNAse enzyme, the HCl precipitates out the undestroyed DNA. The rest of the agar with the remaining DNA, which binds to HCl will have turned cloudy. Around the growth area, if the bacterium has made DNAse and destroyed the DNA, there will be clear zones seen. 2) DNAse agar with the indicator methyl green can be used. In this medium, when the DNA in the medium is hydrolyzed by the bacterial DNAse enzyme, the pieces of cut DNA release from binding to methyl green, and you will see a yellowish/orange zone around the growth area. OBJECTIVE: To identify the presence of the DNAse enzyme. 3, record 3, English, - deoxyribonucleic%20acid%20agar

During DNA replication, each of the two strands that make up the double helix serves as a template from which new strands are copied. The new strand will be complementary to the parental or "old" strand. Each new double strand consists of one parental strand and one new daughter strand. This is known as semiconservative replication. There is a theoretical correlation between time and DNA degradation, although differences in environmental conditions complicates things. 5, record 23, French, - vaccin%20%C3%A0%20acide%20d%C3%A9soxyribonucl%C3%A9ique

Highly repetitive DNA takes its name from the very large number of copies of the basic reassociating sequence present. Generally this sequence is rather short. In one example, the fast component consists of a sequence only 340 bp long, present in 500,000 copies per genome. Because of the short length of the reassociating unit, sometimes this is also referred to as simple sequence DNA. 2, record 52, English, - highly%20repetitive%20DNA

DNA testing: In little more than a decade, DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) evidence has become the foremost forensic technique for identifying perpetrators, and eliminating suspects, when biological tissues such as saliva, skin, blood, hair, or semen are left at a crime scene. ... EDNAP started life in October 1988 in London when a group of forensic scientists from various European countries came together to find a way of harmonizing the DNA technology for crime investigation. With the thought in mind that an integrated Europe with open borders could well see the escalation of cross-border crimes, there would be a need for forensic scientists to exchange data and compare results of DNA analysis. At the 14th Congress of the International Society for Forensic Haemogenetics (ISFH) in Mainz (1991), EDNAP was accepted as a working group of the ISFH. Within this working group, it is intended that each European country should be represented by one laboratory with sufficient expertise in forensic DNA technology. As a small group, EDNAP is able to make decisions solely based on scientific considerations and in the spirit of helping each other. 1, record 79, English, - European%20DNA%20profiling%20group

A human chromosome is a DNA [desoxyribonucleic acid] molecular consisting of about 108 basepairs. A physical map is defined to be a piece of DNA that tells us the location of certain markers along the molecule. The markers are typically small, but precisely defined, sequences. To build physical maps, we begin by making several copies of the DNA molecule to be mapped, the so-called target DNA. 3, record 95, English, - target%20DNA

1, record 97, French, - amplification%20d%26rsquo%3Bune%20s%C3%A9quence%20d%26rsquo%3BADN
