The blanched peanut is really a redskin peanut that has had the red skin covering removed. ... The way the red peanut skin is removed is by dropping the peanuts through a set of mechanical brushes which makes the red skins break open. The skins are blown to the side by a blast of air. This is called mechanical blanching. Another method commonly used is to blast the redskin with water.

A simple, temporary fence designed to reduce deer depredation of small gardens, nurseries, tree seedling plantations and orchards.

OBS

A mixture of peanut butter and vegetable oil with a consistency of very thick paint is applied on the fence with a roller. Aluminum foil strips are attached around the wire. Deer are attracted by the peanut butter and the foil strips, which encourage them to make nose-to-fence contact. After being shocked, deer learn to avoid fenced areas.

OBS

CONT

Peanut mottle virus (PMV) was first discovered as the causal agent of a mottle disease of peanut in 1961. Since then, the virus has occurred in all major peanut-producing areas of the world... A mild mottle is caused by the mottle virus (PMV) on the youngest peanut leaves (Plates 80). The light and dark green areas can be observed most easily by transmitted light. Frequently, leaflet margins curl upward, causing a cupping appearance.

OBS

PMV is a member of the potyvirus group whose origins are unknown, but its widespread distribution is probably the result of seed transmission and symptoms that are frequently undetected.
