A bill tabled in Parliament late in March in order to provide interim financing of government operations until Parliament approves full supply around June 30.

CONT

Parliament normally approves full supply around June 30. In order to provide interim financing of government operations to the end of June, an interim supply bill is tabled in Parliament late in March and is usually approved around April 1.

OBS

Upon approval, this bill becomes an Appropriation Act, differentiated from the main supply Appropriation Act by its number only, i.e. the Appropriation Act granting interim supply might be Appropriation Act no. 1, where the main supply act might be Appropriation Act no. 2.

Interim supply bill: Officially approved by the Management Committee for the BCF (budgetary, accounting and finance) Glossary. Use of this term is mandatory in Canadian government texts.

Le Parlement approuve la totalité des crédits, aux alentours du 30 juin. Afin que l'appareil gouvernemental continue de fonctionner jusqu'à la fin juin, le gouvernement dépose un projet de loi de crédits provisoires à la fin de mars, lequel est habituellement approuvé vers le 1er avril.

Le Conseil du Trésor du Canada a annoncé, le 5 février 1998, que l'équivalent français de Main Estimates devient «Budget principal des dépenses», et celui de Supplementary Estimates, «Budget supplémentaire des dépenses».
