Le canal LFE. Le Dolby Digital 5.1 consiste en 5 canaux qui peuvent incorporer des signaux sur toute la bande passante de 20Hz à 20 kHz, plus un sixième canal optionnel, le .1 du 5.1 qui prend en charge les fréquences basses. Le petit nom de ce canal c'est le LFE pour «Low Frequency Effect» - «Effets à basses fréquences». Contrairement aux autres canaux, le LFE ne délivre que des fréquences basses, la limite supérieure étant placée à 120 Hz.
