La grande majorité des épithéliomas [ou carcinomes] mammaires sont d'origine glandulaire. Il s'agit d'adénocarcinomes. Les épithéliomas malpighiens mammaires n'existent qu'en très petit nombre. De plus, selon l'extension, on doit d'emblée distinguer deux aspects : l'adénocarcinome infiltrant et l'adénome «in situ». Le cancer infiltrant, quelle que soit sa structure anatomopathologique, présente une tendance extensive vis-à-vis du conjonctif. L'invasion lymphatique et ganglionnaire est prévisible.
