Les conglomérats sont des cailloux de quelques centimètres de quartz vitreux et de quartzite, dans un ciment gréseux silicifié. Les conglomérats du Rand, désignés sous le nom populaire de «bankets», sont constitués par des galets de quartz vitreux, parfois de quartz enfumé et de quartzite dont les dimensions sont en général de l'ordre de quelques centimètres, dans un ciment gréseux. Ce ciment renferme des grains de quartz recristallisés, de la séricite, du graphite et d'autres matériaux carbonés et en quantité moindre de la chlorite, du chloritoïde, du rutile, de la tourmaline, du zircon et de la calcite. 6, record 1, French, - banket
