The main activity of the coastal Crees was goose hunting; their hunting and trapping territories were not very far away and did not require the use of a canoe ... The inland Crees, more numerous than those of the coast and occupying the land at a distance from the coast, only came to the post once a year to exchange their furs; they were the main suppliers of pelts.

There are four ways to express an indigenous collectivity in English: 1) with the plural inflection "-s"; 2) if the collectivity does not apply to a subgroup, with the use of the term "nation", as in the Cree nation; 3) with the use of the word "people", as in the Huron and Cree peoples; 4) with the use of the definite article, e.g. The Cree of the coast make up the aboriginal nation occupying the Haute-Mauricie region. Since the "-s" is redundant, this author prefers the use of the definite article (e.g. the Cree, the Haida, etc.). Distress calls is the term commonly used to describe the sounds emitted by a bird under different conditions of stress. They have also been called warning calls, agony calls, etc. .... The bird should be persuaded to give a distress call which is recorded on magnetic tape. When it is required to drive away birds of that species, the call is played back through a loudspeaker. Provided that the call is the correct one and it is played back over suitable equipment, good results can be obtained in dispersing birds by this method.

It was based on a model proposed during consultations with First Nation organizations, and was created as an independent advisory body with authority to hold public inquiries into specific claims that have been rejected by the government. Record of Employment RCC [Regional Computer Centre] system was designed in order to data capture the copy of the ROE which was used to establish the EI [Employment Insurance] Claim. Each month this system compares the ROEs with the EI Claims to ensure that there are sufficient values on the ROEs to support those used in the claims. As this system runs in each of the ITCs, the ROEs are forwarded to the national site (Moncton) where they are matched up to the 2nd Copy of the ROE which has been or will be captured via Bathurst. This national processing is part of the ROE-HO system and will be defined in it's own ATP.

Richard had been taken from his home when he was four because of family problems; he spent the next 13 years moving in and out of 28 foster homes, group homes and shelters in Alberta. A sensitive, articulate young man, Richard left behind a diary upon which this film is based.
