Gleanings are organized ... and make the most of food that otherwise might go to waste, left to rot in the fields after commercial harvesting is done. One-third of produce gleaned goes to the farm, one-third to the gleaners, and one-third to food banks.

Glaner, en bref, c'est ramasser ce qui reste dans les champs ou les arbres fruitiers une fois que le producteur a fait sa récolte. Il reste en effet toujours des légumes et des fruits qui n'ont pas été ramassés ou cueillis. Ils sont trop petits ou déformés, quelque peu abîmés ou trop mûrs pour être vendus, tout en étant parfaitement comestibles.
