CONT

A triple bond has three pairs of electrons shared between the nuclei of two adjacent atoms. The triple bond in ethyne is formed between the two carbon atoms. The atoms are brought even closer together in a triple bond than in a double bond and the triple bond is stronger than a double bond. Note that there is no rotation between the atoms in a triple bond.

DEF
