In keeping with this emphasis, the name of the process was changed in 1996 from the Magnet Hospital Recognition Program to the Magnet Nursing Services Recognition Program for Excellence in Nursing Services, so that the focus is clearly articulated. The recognition program is administered by ANCC's Commission on the Magnet Recognition Program.
