Consultée, la Section de traduction des Affaires indiennes dit n'avoir jamais vu ce terme mais propose "fumoir" (comme terme aussi précis que l'est le "smoke house"), "hutte-fumoir" (sur le modèle de constructions analogues dans un contexte traditionnel et historique), ou "maison-fumoir" (pour ce qui serait la coutume de nommer dans d'autres tribus). Il faut adapter la terminologie aux coutumes des diverses tribus.
