MANGANIQUE [4 records]

Record 1 2010-09-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Elements and Compounds
Universal entry(ies)
MnO(OH)2
formula, see observation
CONT

Oxygen concentration in water can be measured by means of an oxygen-sensing electrode, spectrophotometrically, and titrimetrically. This experiment uses a titration technique which ... involves several oxidation-reduction reactions, the first of which involves the oxidation of manganese(II) ion by dissolved oxygen to form manganese(III) hydroxide.

OBS

manganic [obsolete formulation]: Of, pertaining to, or containing manganese in the trivalent state ...

OBS

Chemical formula: MnO(OH)2

French

Domaine(s)
  • Éléments et composés chimiques
Entrée(s) universelle(s)
MnO(OH)2
formula, see observation
CONT

OBS

Formule chimique : MnO(OH)2

Record 4 1981-01-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Chemical Elements and Compounds
OBS

Because of ozone's great oxidizing power it is used: As an oxidizer of all reducing compounds. Thus it is used in the treatment of water for eliminating iron and manganese by precipitating ferrous and manganese salts in the form of ferric and manganic hydrates which can easily be removed by settling or filtration (fig. 3).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Éléments et composés chimiques
OBS
