We have recently used NH3 lasers in the far-infrared (FIR) to test the predictions of the laser equations (Lorenz-model) about instabilities of the most basic type of lasers.

Le laser NH3 fait ainsi partie de la génération des lasers à gaz moléculaires pompés optiquement par lasers CO2, ceux-ci émettant aux longueurs d'onde supérieures à 10 um. Dans ce type de laser, le faisceau d'excitation (faisceau émis par le laser CO2) va donc en traversant le gaz (NH3) être transformé en lumière de longueurs d'onde différentes.

OBS

Le terme maser (amplification de micro-ondes par émission stimulée de radiation) est vieilli; il est maintenant remplacé par le terme laser.
