MASSE STABLE [2 records]

Record 1 2004-12-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atmospheric Physics
DEF

Air mass having static stability in its lower layers; it is free from convection, has a low degree of turbulence and may have stratiform clouds or fog or no clouds.

CONT

Vertical mixing is a function of atmospheric stability. A stable airmass is characterized by poor vertical mixing; an unstable airmass is characterized by good vertical mixing.

Key term(s)
  • stable air-mass

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique de l'atmosphère
DEF

Record 2 1988-06-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Waste Management
CONT

During the third phase, Selenco intends to construct a modular, state-of-the-art rotary kiln complex to destroy concentrated PCB material. Treatment of this chemical is effected through high temperature, controlled combustion resulting in destruction and removal efficiencies of 99.9999%. A special feature of the advanced technology is the option to encapsulate treatment residues out of the kiln in a nonleachable, lava-like slag. The stability of this rock-like slag ensures that any possible disposal risks are minimized.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des déchets
CONT
