The lateral pivot shift test of McIntosh. The examiner lifts the foot of the extended, internally rotated leg with one hand, forces the knee into valgus with the other hand by pushing on the side of the calf, and slowly flexes the knee while maintaining the valgus stress. In a positive test a "subluxation snap" ... will occur at about 30 - 40°. The test is positive in the presence of anterior cruciate insufficiency.

Le genou étant en extension, l'examinateur applique à la cheville une contrainte en rotation interne du tibia pour relâcher la capsule interne, pendant que l'autre main exerce une pression à la face postéro-externe du genou tout en le fléchissant, ajoutant ainsi une contrainte en valgus avec composante subluxante antérieure du compartiment externe du tibia. La manœuvre est considérée comme positive si elle produit un ressaut ressenti par le malade et l'examinateur entre 20° et 30° de flexion.

Apple-growing on a large scale in Ontario was later than the more easterly provinces. But it developed very rapidly, mostly on varieties of American and European origin until the discovery of the McIntosh apple as a wild seedling in the woods of Dundela, near Iroquois, in Eastern Ontario.
