Le mésoclimat correspond aux caractéristiques climatiques d'une région naturelle de dimensions limitées : plateau, vallée, côte, ... En plus des critères précédents, interviennent, en particulier, les caractéristiques géomorphologiques régionales susceptibles de modifier le bilan énergétique et de perturber l'écoulement de l'air : modelé topographique, couvert végétal, nature de la surface (présence ou non d'étendues lacustres ou maritimes).
