When foveal detachment occurs in eyes with MF [myopic foveoschisis], surgery is necessary to prevent further deterioration. Vitrectomy and complete ILM peeling have been suggested to flatten the retina, but postoperative MH [macular holes] has been reported to occur in approximately 20% of cases. ILM peeling removes the Müller cone cells, which form the base of the fovea and serve as a plug that binds the photoreceptor cells in the foveola and supports the foveola structurally. The stretched retina in a highly myopic eye can easily induce a MH without this structure. To prevent postoperative MH, fovea-sparing ILM peeling was introduced. Studies have shown that this technique can prevent MH formation very effectively. A piece of ILM is preserved in the center of fovea to prevent damage to the Müller cone cells during surgery ... 3, record 1, English, - fovea%2Dsparing%20internal%20limiting%20membrane%20peeling

Internal limiting membrane (ILM) abrasion is an alternative surgical technique for successful full-thickness macular hole (MH) repair. ... Abrasion of the ILM with a diamond-dusted membrane scraper at the time of vitrectomy achieves high rates of MH closure. This technique avoids complete removal of the retinal ILM basement membrane and subjacent tissues and appears to provide MH closure rates similar to those of traditional ILM peeling. 1, record 3, English, - internal%20limiting%20membrane%20abrasion

Building Related Illness (BRI) ... refers to a defined illness with a known causative agent resulting from exposure to the building air. While the causative agent can be chemical (e.g., formaldehyde), it is often biological. Typical sources of biological contaminants are humidification systems, cooling towers, drain pans or filters, other wet surfaces, or water damaged building material. Symptoms may be specific or mimic symptoms commonly associated with the flu, including fever, chills, and cough. Serious lung and respiratory conditions can occur. Legionnaires' disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and humidifier fever are common examples of building related illness. 7, record 7, English, - building%2Drelated%20illness
