There are several definitions in the literature of the notion of total angular momentum in general relativity. However, none of them can be said to capture the physical notion of intrinsic angular momentum of the sources in the presence of gravitational radiation. We present a definition of angular momentum for radiative spacetimes which does not suffer from any ambiguity of supertranslations. 1, record 1, English, - intrinsic%20angular%20momentum

It is ... apparent that gyroscopic inertia depends on the angular velocity and the momentum of inertia of the rotor, or on its angular momentum. The rotor wheel is subject to the laws of rotational motion and inertia in that a freely rotating body will maintain a fixed direction in space, and the rotor tends to preserve its angular momentum, or spinning action, unless acted on by some external force. 3, record 2, English, - angular%20momentum

The first ... mechanical quantity [involved in gyroscopic motion] is the angular momentum, or "spin," of a gyroscope. Thus, the top can spin in either of two directions, described as clockwise or counterclockwise when looking along the axis of symmetry. Its angular momentum, or spin, can be represented as a directed line segment, called the spin vector, that points along the axis. 2, record 2, English, - angular%20momentum

1, record 2, French, - moment%20angulaire

Nuclear magnetic resonance is a consequence of a property possessed by the nucleus known as nuclear spin angular momentum. Some properties associated with nuclear spin angular momentum are similar to those of a spinning macroscopic body, however, nuclear spin angular momentum is a fundamental property that cannot be explained in terms of any other fundamental property such as mass, charge, etc. Nuclear spin angular momentum—like the angular momentum of any other fundamental particle —is a quantized vectorial quantity. Its magnitude is restricted to certain fixed values and its direction is also restricted to certain directions in the presence of a magnetic field. In the absence of a magnetic field, it is not possible to obtain any information regarding its direction. 1, record 3, English, - nuclear%20spin%20angular%20momentum%20vector
