MEDLARS [en inglés, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System,] Sistema de Análisis y Recuperación de la Literatura Médica, [...] se convirtió en un sistema en línea en 1971 denominado MEDLINE ([en ingés,] MEDLARS Online). A medida que se fueron desarrollando otras bases de datos en línea, MEDLARS se convirtió en el nombre de todo el sistema de información de la NLM [Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina, NLM, por sus siglas en inglés], mientras que MEDLINE se convirtió en el nombre de la principal base de datos.

The Department of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada and Statistics Canada are currently working together on a number of initiatives, including geographic names, administrative limits, remote sensing research and geographic information standards. A new project, the Canadian OnLine Unified Geocartographic Analysis and Retrieval System (COUGAR) is currently proposed as that will support the Census. This framework will be based on EMR's national topographic database.

By the Canadian Red Book, Ltd. "Canadian Red Book Online" is an Internet-accessed service that gives customers the ability to find base vehicle specifications and values, then fine-tune their lookups with mileage and option calculations. Users in possession of a vehicle's 17-digit VIN may enter that for accurate year-make-model decoding. Reports are generated instantly, and may be saved or e-mailed directly from the application via the user's browser and ISP. The program updates values for Canadian makes and models on the first of each month, and allows for provincial valuation adjustments.
