The Livestock Feed Board of Canada is a Crown Corporation reporting to Parliament through the Minister of Agriculture. Established under the Livestock Feed Assistant Act in 1967, its objectives are to ensure : the availability offered grain in Eastern Canada and British Columbia; the availability of adequate storage space in Eastern Canada, and the reasonable stability and fair equalization of feed grain prices in Eastern Canada, British Columbia, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. The Board administers the Feed Freight Equalization Program under which a portion of the costs of transportation of feed grains is paid. The corporation consists of not less than three and not more than five members appointed by the Governor in Council, and is known as the Canadian Livestock Feed Board.
