Plat courant et plat lentique : Zone d'un cours d'eau où la profondeur est uniforme et plutôt faible. Le plat est une zone de transition entre la fosse et le seuil. Il se situe souvent dans les portions rectilignes des cours d'eau. On peut diviser les plats en deux classes selon le type de courant présent, soit le plat courant [...] et le plat lentique [...] Le plat courant a une pente douce, un écoulement uniforme, un courant modéré et de petites vagues à la surface dues à la proximité du substrat.
