A.E. Fersman [...] appelle pneumatolytes les fluides ou distillats, riches en minéralisateurs, qui se sont séparés du magma résiduel lors de l'individualisation des pegmatites. Ces fluides se séparent à divers moments, en quantité plus ou moins importante et en proportion diverse, pendant toute cette période du refroidissement. Tandis qu'il n'y a qu'un seul fluide pegmatitique connexe du refroidissement d'un corps de magma déterminé, il se dégage en général plusieurs distillats, et ceux-ci évoluent pour leur compte parallèlement avec le fluide pegmatitique. À la fin, quand le point critique des solutions aqueuses est atteint (aux environs de 400 °C pour FERSMAN), on entre dans la phase hydrothermale, et les distillats précédents alimentent les solutions hydrothermales juvéniles.
