The GTE Sylvania Precision Automated Tracking System (PATS) is a mobile laser tracking and ranging system which gathers, records and displays space-position information on a wide variety of vehicles and targets in real time, with great accuracy. Self-contained in a mobile van, PATS requires a maximum of two operators. It measures azimuth, elevation and range automatically by transmitting a laser pulse to a target and measuring the angle of return and the roundtrip time.
