A sound produced by the passage of air through the trachea, bronchi, and bronchioles that have been narrowed, irrespective of the cause.

Rhonchi are continuous, or relatively so, through both phases of respiration, but are more prominent, in general, during expiration.

Les râles continus sont de deux types : le râle ronflant (ronflement, ronchus) et le râle sibilant (sifflement). Ils apparaissent dans toutes les régions du thorax, de façon uniforme ou variable.
