ROTOR BOBINE [7 records]

Record 1 2017-09-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
CONT

The wound-rotor motor is particularly effective in applications where using a squirrel-cage motor may result in a starting current that's too high for the capacity of the power system.

OBS

wound-rotor motor: term officially approved by the Lexicon Project Committee (New Brunswick).

Subject field(s)
  • Stators and Rotors (Electrical Components)
  • Electric Motors
Key term(s)
  • 3-phase wound rotor

French

Domaine(s)
  • Stators et rotors (Composants électrotechniques)
  • Moteurs électriques
OBS

Le rotor est constitué d'un ensemble de bobines reliées à un collecteur rotatif. Le collecteur rotatif permet de maintenir fixe la direction transversale de magnétisation du rotor lorsque celui-ci tourne.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Rotary Machines - Types
  • Wind Energy
DEF

[A] generator where the rotor windings are connected to a small converter using slip-rings and brushes.

OBS

The generator feeds two-thirds of the nominal power from the directly connected stator and the one-third from the rotor. The converter is used to control the generator’s speed and power factor, allowing a wider speed range for power production as well as the ability to feed reactive power to support the grid.

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
CONT

Direct-current axial air gap motors are often referred to as disc motors and there are basically two types. The first and most common type is the printed-circuit motor .... The second is the wound-rotor type disc motor; Fig. 10.11 shows a typical cross-section of such a motor.

OBS

for "disc wound motor": In the disc wound motor, the armature coils are wound into a flat disc, which is stiffened by reinforcing it with a thermosetting epoxy resin. The rotor coils are wound on to a frame to the correct number of turns, the frame is then removed, and the coils hot pressed form a disc.

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
CONT

Wound-rotor a.c. induction motors are also applied successfully in some instances, usually below 200 kW, but they tend to have control difficulties at low creep speeds, which is limited by their acceptance and dissipation of the slip energy.
