The most significant factor impacting on data entry is the mainframe screens. Given users' current appreciation of a Windows environment and knowledge of the Contact IV system, even a streamlined mainframe environment is not acceptable for client documentation. GUI NESS [National Employment Services System] is a micro application. The application provides a GUI [graphical user interface] through which NESS users can access and manage the information in the legacy mainframe database. The features of the graphical interface reflect the functions available in the mainframe application, but provide a "friendlier" face and standard MS Windows functionality.
