ZEOLITES [6 records]

Record 1 2011-05-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mineralogy
  • Petrography
DEF

The typical mineral facies of the burial metamorphism of sediments containing zeolites.

OBS

The critical zeolite of this facies is not just any zeolite but laumontite … which never occurs in unmetamorphosed sediments. Winkler, therefore, more accurately calls the zeolite facies the laumontite-prehnite-quartz facies.

OBS

zeolite facies: term used at Natural Resources Canada - Earth Sciences Sector.

Domaine(s)
  • Minéralogie
  • Pétrographie
CONT

Les faciès métamorphiques. [...] On distingue [...]

Subject field(s)
  • Petrography
CONT

Any NTS [Nevada Test Site] soils derived from zeolite-bearing volcanic rock are likely to be rich in zeolites also, and are likely to shed plutonium-transporting colloids from bomb-contaminated sites.

OBS

zeolite-bearing: term used at Natural Resources Canada - Earth Sciences Sector.

PHR

Zeolite-bearing rock.
