For historical and practical reasons, however, plant physiologists have developed another parameter called the water potential (psiw). Water potential is expressed in pressure units such as megapascals (MPa). ... Like chemical potential, water potential is a relative quantity, and is always determined as a difference between the sample in question and a standard reference. For plant physiologists, the standard reference for water potential measurements is the water potential of pure water at one atmosphere of pressure. This reference value is defined as 0 MegaPascals. 2, record 13, English, - water%20potential

The clonal selection theory is based on the proposition that during development each lymphocyte becomes committed to react with a particular antigen before ever being exposed to it. A cell expresses this commitment in the form of surface receptor proteins that specifically fit the antigen. The binding of antigen to the receptors activates the cell, causing it both to multiply and mature. Thus a foreign antigen selectively stimulates those cells that bear complementary antigen-specific receptors and are thus already committed to respond to it. This is what makes immune responses antigen-specific. The term "clonal" in clonal selection derives from the postulate that the immune system is composed of millions of different families, or clones, of cells, each consisting of T or B lymphocytes descended from a common ancestor. Since each ancestral cell is already committed to make one particular antigen-specific receptor protein, all cells in a clone have the same antigen specificity. 1, record 47, English, - clonal%20selection

2, record 64, French, - v%C3%A9hicule%20hybride%20%C3%A0%20configuration%20en%20s%C3%A9rie

Fuel-cells create electricity via a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, much like a miniature electric power plant. A single fuel-cell generates less than a single volt of electricity, so many cells are stacked in a series connection -- a "fuel-cell stack" -- to produce enough voltage to power a car. 1, record 65, English, - fuel%2Dcell%20hybrid%20vehicle

Record number: 66, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A monsoon circulation is similar to a sea/land breeze, except that it occurs over a much larger area. The most famous monsoon circulation occurs over India and southeast Asia. During the summer, the air over the continent becomes much warmer than the water surface, so the surface air moves from the water to the land. The humid air from the water converges with dry air from over the continent and produces precipitation over the region. Additional lifting from hills and mountains causes copious amounts of precipitation to occur, over 400 inches at some locations! During the winter the flow reverses and the dominant surface flow moves from the land to the water. 4, record 66, English, - monsoon

The term is generally confined to a situation where the primary cause is the differential heating (changing in sense from summer to winter) between a continent and the adjacent ocean. 3, record 66, English, - monsoon

4, record 66, French, - mousson
