La Conférence circumpolaire inuite (CCI) est une organisation internationale représentant environ 180 000 Inuits qui vivent dans les régions arctiques (et quelques régions subarctiques) du Canada, en Alaska, au Groenland et en Chukota (Russie). A territory created on April 1, 1999 from the division of the Northwest Territories, the eastern part of which became the third territory to join the Confederation of Canada. It stands thirteenth in the order of precedence established according to the year of entry into Confederation of the ten provinces, then of the territories. Nunavut consists of: (a) all of Canada north of the 60°N and east of a boundary line shown on the official map and which is not within Quebec or Newfoundland and Labrador; and (b) the islands in Hudson Bay, James Bay and Ungava Bay that are not within Manitoba, Ontario, or Quebec.
