Prophysaon coeruleum is nearly uniform blue-gray with scattered white flecks in the integument. Adults are 20-40 mm long, although mostly smaller, young animalsare usually found in the field.

La limace-prophyse bleu-gris (Prophysaon coeruleum) est l'une des neuf espèces décrites du genre Prophysaon, endémique de l'ouest de l'Amérique du Nord. Il s'agit d'une limace de taille petite à moyenne (pouvant atteindre 45 mm de longueur en extension), à corps mince. Les caractères morphologiques externes permettant de la reconnaître sont sa coloration bleu-gris et les sillons et les crêtes parallèles qui ornent le dessus et les côtés de la queue.
