(The Clerks Assistant) sit at the Table on each side of the Clerk (of the House) and all three are described as "the Clerks-at-the-Table" ... In addition, the Speaker appoints from time to time, persons as Second Clerk Assistant and Third Clerk Assistant. These Clerks, designated as "Clerks-at-the-Table", discharge such duties as are assigned to them by the Clerk of the House.
