Un vehículo híbrido es aquel que combina dos o más sistemas, que a su vez consumen fuentes de energía diferentes. Uno de los sistemas es el generador de la energía eléctrica, que consiste en un motor de combustión interna de alta eficiencia, combinado con volantes de inercia, ultracondensadores o baterías eléctricas.
