In July 2000 this Council was established to offer the Department of Veterans Affairs advice, within the scope of its mandate, on how to address a number of challenges facing the members and veterans of the Canadian Forces and their families. The Council has been meeting twice a year ever since to advance this aim.

En juillet 2000, ce conseil a été créé et chargé d'offrir des conseils au ministère des Anciens Combattants, dans le cadre de son mandat, quant aux moyens à prendre pour relever certains des défis qui se posent aux membres et aux anciens combattants des Forces canadiennes et à leurs familles. Depuis, les membres du conseil se réunissent deux fois l'an dans le but de réaliser cet objectif.
