CONT

Industrial Chemists are applied scientists, some of whom are engaged in solving problems at the forefront of research, while others are responsible for successful operations of some ... companies in the chemical industry. Typically, industrial chemists undertake optimisation of complex processes, but unlike engineers, industrial chemists examine and change the chemistry of the process itself. Thus, one of our major roles is to exercise a questioning, scientific approach to the fundamental chemistry of industrial processes. Industrial chemists are involved throughout the process of producing a wide range of important chemicals and materials, from the design and modification of the actual chemical process, to the analysis of raw materials, the application of advanced computers to the simulation and control of the chemical plant, verification of the quality of the product and giving technical advice to both management and customers. Industrial chemists are at the forefront of the management and control of the environment of industrial processes, to ensure a clean and safe future for all Australian.
