Recherche qui consiste à explorer partiellement l'ensemble de configurations possibles (circuits de graphe) en appliquant sur un circuit aléatoire une transformation génératrice d'un nouveau circuit, en comparant les longueurs des deux circuits afin de retenir le plus court et en répétant cette triple opération jusqu'à ce qu'aucune transformation ne produise de circuit plus court. Elle peut aboutir à des solutions de coût fort supérieur à celui de la solution exacte et être piégée dans un minimum local.
