A purplish suspension of minute particles of metallic gold, made by reducing a solution of bromauric acid or other acid or salt of gold, used in medicine since alchemical times.

OBS

The radioactive form, made by exposure to neutrons, is used as a suspension in the pleural cavity to treat lung cancer.

El oro coloidal es un líquido cuyo color varía del rojo/rosado a un color púrpura. Ningún otro color es aceptable, pues evidenciaría algún componente agregado. Cuando el oro metálico se divide homogéneamente en partículas de tamaños que van de uno a cien billonésimas partes de un metro y dichas partículas son permanentemente suspendidas en la solución, el mineral se convierte en el producto conocido como coloidal y exhibe nuevas propiedades debido a una mayor superficie de oro disponible.
